What's the problem? It's very well established that game mechanics can't be copyrighted and both the games industry and the games press know this. id Software doesn't own the FPS genre and Westwood Studios didn't own the RTS genre and, if they had, it's pretty clear that it would have stifled innovation in those genres.
I wouldn't call it a blatant copy. It brought quite a few new mechanics to the genre that PubG did not have (which is what the Among Us Devs wished Fortnite would have done in imposters).
If you are talking about the BR genre, PubG is not the first to develop a Battle Royale game.
